About Us

Shiny Thimble Quilt Studio has been providing the Mt. Vernon, Oregon, community with a wide variety of designer fabrics, quilting essentials, sewing classes, embroidery supplies, and professional long arm services since 2012.

Owner, Karen Hinton started sewing when she was very young, making everything from Barbie doll clothes and Girl Scout uniforms, to personal wardrobe items and of course quilting. Throughout the years, she continued to sew, becoming a licensed heirloom instructor through the Martha Pullen program, as well as teaching quilting classes.

When employment cutbacks found Karen sitting at home (quilting, of course), her fiancé, Kenny encouraged her to open a quilt shop. She feels blessed to work in an industry where she can indulge her passion for all things sewing and is further blessed to have daughter, Hannah, (one of three beautiful children) helping out at the Shiny Thimble too!
